Photo Book Printers

  1. How are your photo books printed?

Photo books are printed on our Kodak NexPress digital production press.

  2. Is digital printing inferior technology?

With recent technological advances, digital printing is no longer considered inferior to offset printing. The digital age is upon us. New digital printing processes are beginning to approach the quality of traditional offset printers. Major digital printing manufacturers like HP, Xerox and Kodak are pushing the bounds of what digital printing methods can achieve, and the results can be stunning. At the 2008 DRUPA print trade event (which is like the Olympics of the printing industry where every four years print's biggest players meet to get a look at the future of their business), in Dusseldorf, Germany, there were significant advances in all aspects of digital printing: from prepress to print to processing.

Digital printing even offers several benefits over traditional offset printing. First of all, small runs can cost-effectively be achieved. Not too many years ago, you would have had to pay to have printing plates made for each page of your layout from a service bureau, and a press operator would have to ink up a large offset press for each printed page. The cost of producing just one copy of a book was astronomical as well as time-consuming. You would have had to print hundreds of copies of the book to offset the cost. Today, you simply hit 'submit' on your computer, and your press-ready layout is uploaded to us and printed directly to our press as a first-generation original.

Secondly, digital printing is green! Offset printing involves the use of harmful inks and caustic chemicals not to mention excess paper wasted just to align the printing plates and adjust the color. And to keep the costs down, customers frequently order more than they actually use. Digital printing is dry- there are no inks or chemicals. We print only what we need.

In addition, digital printing is fast. You no longer need to wait weeks or months for your printed product. As a result of the reduction in offset printing consumables and preparation, our photo books can be printed by one press operator usually in one shift. If you are ever in a need for a quick, thoughtful gift, our photo books are the solution! Our streamlined workflow allows us to offer books with great quality, and produced quickly, all at an affordable price.
